STAMFORD, CT — Heavy snow conditions did not hamper firefighters' efforts to extinguish a blaze that broke out early Monday morning at a Stamford home. In a news release, Deputy Chief Matt Palmer said firefighters responded to a report of a house fire on Treat Avenue around 1 a.m., where a "large volume of fire" could be seen in the back of the structure extending into the home's second floor, roof and attic space. According to Palmer, crews worked to put out the fire while dealing with heavy snow conditions and a frozen fire hydrant. Firefighters were ultimately able to bring the blaze under control in approximately 30 minutes, Palmer said. Over 30 firefighters and other crews responded to the home, Palmer said. One firefighter was treated for a minor injury, Palmer said. Everyone inside the home was able to safely evacuate before crews arrived, Palmer said. Crews from the Belltown Fire Department, Stamford Emergency Medical Services and the Stamford Police Department provided assistance, Palmer said. The Stamford Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
