BOULDER, CO — Firefighters rescued a dog that fell through ice into a small lake near the CU Boulder South Tennis Complex on Sunday. The dog's owner did the right thing and called the rescue crew instead of venturing out onto the ice himself, Boulder Fire-Rescue said in a tweet. If the ice isn't solid enough to hold a dog, then it's definitely not safe for a human, officials said. "A cautionary 'tail' to share this morning," the tweet read. "Please keep your adorable pups on leash so they don't run onto icy lakes & fall in like this guy did near CU South." The Boulder Fire-Rescue crew was on their way to ice diving training when they received a report of the dog trapped in the water, and they were able to respond quickly, officials said.
