CLEVELAND — A Pennsylvania man attacked federal agents in Cleveland, the Department of Justice announced. Dewayne Taylor, 31, from Harrisburg, was indicted by a federal grand jury. He faces charges of forcibly assaulting, resisting, opposing, impeding or interfering with federal law enforcement. On Dec. 11, 2020, members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force were searching for Taylor and agents received a tip that he was at a Walmart in Cleveland. Agents waited for Taylor in the parking lot, but the 31-year-old spotted law enforcement and jumped into his car. He then pulled out a gun and pointed it an agent, prosecutors said. Members of the Violent Fugitive Task Force then shot at Taylor, hitting him in the shoulder, prosecutors said. He stopped his car and the Marshals gave him first aid until EMS arrived and took him to a hospital. Taylor was barred from having a gun due to his previous convictions for burglary. "An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government's burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt," the Department of Justice noted.
