Fire officials told reporters that eight people were in the home when the fire broke out. Of the six survivors, one was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. It's always tragic when there's a loss of life, regardless of the cause. But to lose two at one time is just devastating, for our members as well as for the family members that's involved," Charlotte Fire Department Capt. Dennis Gist said in a news conference following the incident.
