AURORA, IL — Hundreds of Aurora residents were hit with parking tickets from Aurora police after significant snowfall throughout the region in recent days.
Aurora officials said Saturday evening that 968 parking tickets were written in the prior week for violations of the city's ordinance that bans people from parking their cars on public streets during or after a snowfall of 2 inches of more. That ban lasts until plows have cleared the street.

Many commenters on the City of Aurora's Facebook page urged officials to consider alternatives to residents, with public parking hard to come by, particularly during a significant snowstorm. Others asked the city to send officers to their neighborhoods to ticket cars still parked on their streets.
