SAN DIEGO, CA — SeaWorld San Diego is set to reopen on Saturday in a limited capacity after remaining closed for the last two months as a result of California's regional stay-at-home orders for the coronavirus pandemic. In its reopening announcement, SeaWorld said it will follow the state's safety guidelines for zoos and aquariums and will only operate as an animal park — meaning no rides will be in operation. The decision to reopen comes after Gov. Gavin Newsom rolled back the stay-at-home orders in late-January, citing the state's improved COVID-19 conditions. The park said it will limit its capacity and require guests to purchase tickets in advance and specify which date they would like to visit. SeaWorld said it will operate with "enhanced health and safety protocols" that involve cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, physical distancing, face-covering requirements for park guests and employees as well as temperature screenings. More information about the park's safety protocols and how to purchase tickets can be found on SeaWorld's website.
