LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A Gwinnett Count Police Department dog that went missing over the weekend was found safe and healthy, authorities said on Saturday.
Brix, the K9 unit, first went missing early Saturday in the 600 block of Winder Highway. In a news release, police said the dog became distracted by a nearby animal and began chasing it.
Officers and K9 handlers began searching for the dog in woods and in nearby neighborhoods to no avail. Eventually Lawrenceville Police Department officers and a police helicopter were used in the search.
