BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Levite Jewish Community Center has named an interim executive director as its newly formed search team looks for a permanent leader. Aimee Johnson begins her new position this week.
Johnson comes to the LJCC with 25 years of nonprofit management experience in the Birmingham area, most recently as the executive director of the Alabama Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
Meanwhile, the Board of Directors is putting together an Executive Director Search Committee that will work toward making a permanent executive director recommendation this year with feedback from members and staff.
"We are extremely excited for Aimee to start working with our amazing staff, members, and community partners in building on the momentum of the past several years at the LJCC," said board president Jesse Unkenholz.
Unkenholz also said the LJCC will fill more positions in the coming weeks, including the position of director of Jewish life, who will work with staff, the board and the other Jewish agencies in creating Jewish programming, exploring opportunities for inter-agency collaboration and providing insight into Jewish life and culture for our members and the wider community.
Positions in Camp, Aquatics, and Wellness will be filled in the coming weeks also.
