A family looking for a full time chef who wants to grow with their family. Some catering/ restaurant or private home experience required, but we are looking for someone upbeat, friendly and creative who wants experiment, and is keen to progress their skills while providing great food, both daily and for special occasions! There is the potential for some travel as well if the chef is keen! Location: Primary: Annapolis, MD Hours: From 10am – 5pm, Monday – Friday (including grocery shopping) But flexibility is requested throughout the year in case of dinner parties or events Hours during travel vary Salary: Around $60,000 gross per annum, dependent on experience and with some benefits Additional bonuses to be paid for travel, and large seasonal catered events The Family: Two parents, four children (2 adult age and 2 high school age – typically present Friday - Sunday), newborn in July. Plus 2 dogs. Start Date: Around 15th April 2021 Requirements • A valid Driver’s License, with own car to travel to and from work • Legally able to work within the United States, with a passport that allows for international travel • Willing to take both a Covid and annual flu vaccination (to be paid for by the Principals) • Happy to wear smart clothing (not uniform) when in the principal’s home • Either qualifications from cooking schools, or a few years’ experience in restaurants or private homes • Excellent references required from both current and previous employers/ teachers • Happy to have a background check run (criminal & driver), and sign a confidentiality agreement Key Responsibilities Purchasing groceries and kitchen equipment within budget Ensuring home is stocked with basic groceries and healthy snacks Tidying up the kitchen Creating menu ideas Negotiating best prices with local suppliers Preparing meals daily (Monday through Friday) o Requested daily meals include predominantly lunch and dinner; alongside desserts, snacks, fresh juices, etc. o Breakfast to be prepared the day before and placed in the fridge (eg unblended smoothies, granolas etc.) o Dinners to be prepared daily, ready for heating and self-service (no serving required day-to-day) o Friday, no dinner required, instead food prepared for the weekend for the extended family – labelled appropriately and stored. o Help preparing food for the baby Weekend Work: may be required occasionally, but advanced notice provided and overtime or time in lieu given Dinner Parties: Every Wednesday night during late spring and summer – preparing new dishes each time Larger holiday events – e.g. Christmas and regatta dinners – working as part of a catering team Food Style: typically family style day-to-day, ideal if some high-end plating knowledge or willingness to learn this skill Food Allergens/ Restrictions: none, but knowledge required for dinner parties and guests Travel – not required but preferred (all expenses paid for) Traveling with the family to various regattas/ events. Approximately 4 or 5 times a year in total. Max for 2 weeks at a time. Typically 3-4 nights. Preparing only dinner service and lunches for the boat
