Our company creates beautiful native plant gardens across Chicago’s north side, northern suburbs and suburbs around Oak Park. The lead native plant garden steward will lead a stewardship team in caring for our gardens, guiding the tasks, tracking productivity, and keeping notes on tasks and needs in each garden. Required: -At least one year working with native plants in the Midwest -At least two years caring for plants in a garden setting -Ability to identify common native plants and to weed, plant, mulch and lift 50 lbs -Ability to use hand and power tools as required, with preference for hand tools -Ability to use an app to track staff and time at each garden and driving time -Ability to shape gardens per customer preferences—from wild to manicured -Strong attention to detail -Ability to work independently and in teams -Ability to interact with clients and represent Red Stem Stewards arrive to our Skokie location each day and work outdoors in various kinds of weather, traveling to our native plant garden throughout our service area. This is a full time, seasonal position. Starting pay is $18/HR. Expect to work from April 1 through the end of November each year, from 7AM to 5PM, Monday through Fridays and some Saturdays. Some work available in winter, if desired. Overtime pay, pay to and from jobs, paid sick days, subsidized company health insurance, professional development classes.
