The primary purpose of a Steiner Part Time Van Driver is to pick up or deliver material to customers, suppliers, and branches. When not driving will be performing warehouse functions picking, receiving and loading/unloading Responsibilities: Make sure paperwork such as pack, signature sheets and routing information is in order prior to leaving to make deliveries or pickups. Conduct physical inspection of vehicle at beginning and end of each day. Report any damage, needed repairs or maintenance requirements to supervisor. Submit pre-trip sheets to supervisor each day. Inspect load prior to moving the vehicle and make sure it is balanced and secured properly. Complete assigned deliveries in a timely and accurate manner. Represent Steiner Electric in a positive and professional manner at all times. Operate truck safely at all times. Learn to use handheld computer equipment properly. Driver is accountable for any damage or loss of handheld computer equipment. Assists in unloading material at customer site. Obtains legible signature upon delivery. Communicates any problems or suggestions pertaining to deliveries or pickups to supervisor. Report any accident, theft or other incidents to supervisor immediately via radio or cell phone. Maintain neat, legible records as directed by supervisor. Other tasks as directed by supervisor. Participate in annual Driver Safety Meeting. Picking/receiving, when not driving. Load and/or unload vehicles at supervisor request. Position Requirements: Education, Knowledge, Training, Experience, Licenses, Certification Safe driving record, five years driving record with no accidents preferred. Ability to pass road driving test. Fluent English – verbal and written. Ability to work and communicate well with Steiner, customer and supplier personnel. High school diploma or GED. A valid driver’s license. Ability to learn how to use handheld computer equipment. Ability to communicate and work well with customers and Steiner employees. Physical Requirements of the Essential Functions of this Position: Sit in vehicle for extended length of time. Lift and carry up to 80 pounds including large bulky items. Bending and twisting motions required. Pushing and pulling fully loaded manual pallet jacks and carts. Climbing in and out of vehicle.
