Houseman or woman (Gardener/Handyman) wanted for a private estate home in the San Antonio Heights area in Upland. Duties include maintaining the grounds by mowing the lawn, blowing leaves, trimming bushes, trimming trees, pulling or spraying weeds, netting leaves out of pond, cleaning pond, washing and waxing cars, cleaning patios, driveways, walking paths and balconies, cleaning gutters, cleaning chandeliers and windows, various minor repairs, working on various house projects, sprinkler head, pipe and valve repairs and any other duties as assigned by the principal/owner. The most important duty of the Houseman/woman is to hand water the plants of the Estate grounds daily. Each type of plant requires a different amount of watering as well as shade vs. full sun plants. Winter hand watering is minimal, maybe once or twice a week depending on the weather. Summer hand watering is daily and averages 2-3 hours per day on top of regular duties. An experienced person from a nursery, botanical garden, horticulture is preferred but not required. The ideal houseman/woamn for this Estate is to be a good person, hard working, reliable, dependable, trustworthy, friendly, and respectful. The Houseman must be willing to follow directions from a FEMALE principal/owner and also take the initiative to ensure the grounds are kept immaculate and all the plants are cared for. Attention to detail is a must. The Houseman should be passionate about their job and love plants and nature. Must not be scared of big dogs. You must have minimum 10 years work experience as a gardener, landscaper, handyman, houseman, maintenance worker, construction worker or related field. Experience in a private home or hotel preferred. Must be physically strong, be able to lift 50 pounds, go up and down many stairs all day long. This is a permanent part time position for long term. Candidates for this position must have a valid CA driver's license, clean record, no drugs. A background check including fingerprints will be performed. Compensation is $15-20 per hour, depending on qualifications. Hourly, no benefits. 20-30 hours a week, rain or shine. Monday-Friday, 8am-12 pm or 1-5 pm and extra hours as needed. Occasional weekends as needed for watering when principal/owner is out of town. Only those applicants with relevant experience will be considered for an interview.
