He received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of six through the influence of his godly father and mother. He surrendered his life to the Lord at the age of eight. He actually heard the call of God to the ministry at the age of eighteen, and became burdened for teenagers a year later. He carries that burden to this day. He entered Bob Jones University (where he met his wife, Lynn) in the fall of 1972 and graduated with a four-year degree in three years. Lynn also is a BJU graduate in the field of Home Economics.
