C: Finally, in June we will teach the 40 hour BTG course: Starting June 15 on a different schedule: T/TH Evenings 6-10 pm and Saturday days all day 9-5:30. June 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29 and 30. **The 40 hr course: does go by very quickly with less time for questions and interactive exercises. This course is recommended more for Interpreters already working in the field, with some experience, who may be looking for a medical certificate. Or for people who already have medical backgrounds, knowledge of anatomy/physiology or are great at studying and can keep up with the faster pace. There is less time spent on Ethics and less emphasis on Culture, Health Disparities and the finer nuances and points and challenges of medical interpreting. Mental health, substance abuse and recovery interpreting is not covered in the textbook. The instructor may briefly cover the topic, it is not in the course content at all. the 64 hour course has several chapters devoted to it and exercises. In summary: The 64 hour course is the one to attend if the Interpreter wants to ensure taking and passing a national exam like the NBCMI or CCHI exam in order to serve the largest population of LEP clients services in CO: the Injured Worker for Workers' Compensation claims; a large piece of the pie of Limited English Proficient clients we serve in Colorado. It is also the course to take should the interpreter want to be qualified and eligible to serve clients in the mental or behavioral health settings. For only a little more than $200 and 3 more days: it is a worthy investment as long as one is making a lifetime career choice towards success. They are both great courses, content rich and a high value for the time and money spent, over any others available. We are applying to be a WorkForce Colorado vendor.. you can ask about Tuition reimbursement. We look forward to hearing from you and assisting you to reach your dreams and best life. 1/One World Translation
