With Special Guest Boni Odoemene, co-founder of the Black & Irish podcast FEBRUARY FIRST FRIDAY NETWORKING BREAKFAST via ZOOM FRIDAY, 5th FEBRUARY We are delighted to kick off US Black History Month with our FEBRUARY First Friday Networking Breakfast, featuring special guest Boni Odoemene, one of the founders of the Black & Irish organisation. Boni Odoemene grew up in south Dublin. He studied Law at the Dublin Institute of Technology and spent two years as President of the Students' Union- the first Black President the Union has ever elected. He was selected for the prestigious Washington Ireland Program and spent a summer in Washington, D.C. interning on Capitol Hill before completing a Masters Degree in International Relations at the University of Birmingham in England. Boni is now based in London working as an investors relations officer for the UK’s Department for International Trade. In his spare time, he posts funny and educational videos about Irish history and Irish identity on TikTok, where he has amassed over 152,000 followers, including many in the US. Black & Irish was set up to highlight and celebrate the identity of Black and Mixed Race Irish people, and to spread awareness around the world of the experiences, struggles and successes within the community. Their podcast series looks at growing up as part of a minority, tackling issues of racism in Ireland and assessing how they might be changed. You can listen to the series here . So come join us on Friday, 5th February at 8:00 am, hear from Boni about his work with Black & Irish, and have a chance to meet and chat with other members of the Irish community here - albeit virtually! Roll out of bed (depending on where you are, of course!), make the coffee or tea, throw on a few Irish sausages, if you are lucky enough to have them, and Zoom with us!
