JOB DESCRIPTION Small family farm looking for responsible animal lover for part-time care of livestock and house pets (dogs and cats). The ideal candidate would be local to Poulsbo and have a passion for animals. A successful candidate would be a detail-oriented person who can actively maintain the sanitation and safety of animals. Training is provided but being comfortable with many sizes and types of animals is required. Qualities of hard work, honesty, and teamwork will be very beneficial to this position. This position will provide the right candidate the opportunity to learn how to manage many different types of heritage-breed animals, including training dogs for competition, showing dogs, grooming dogs, and raising animals with holistic and natural approaches. Local candidates only, preferably in Poulsbo, WA. Part-time work to start, 5 days a week Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. There is the potential for more hours available for candidates who work hard and desire to expand position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Walking, exercising, feeding, watering, bathing of dogs. Feeding and maintenance of cats. Feeding and watering of livestock. Cleaning pens. Doing laundry for animal bedding. Cleaning bowls. Cleaning and maintenance of buildings. Other duties as assigned by Farm Manager and/or Owner; due to the varied responsibilities candidates should be flexible and work well with some changing or varied responsibilities every day. QUALIFICATIONS: No drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or vaping. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Good communication skills. Must respect and maintain confidentiality. Comfortable with many sizes and types of animals. Minimum basic animal care knowledge/experience. Must be able to work some weekends. PREFERRED / DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledgeable about dog behavior and management. Desire to learn about many different types of animals and management techniques. Willingness to work evenings, holidays, or overnight.
