Maple Sugaring Tours To Begin At Natick Community Organic Farm

NATICK, MA — When it's frigid at night and (relatively) warm durin the day, it's maple sugar season. The Natick Community Organic Farm (NCOF) will soon begin tours of its maple-sugaring operation, allowing locals to taste maple sap that runs best around this time of year. "Visitors will observe live campfires with boiling sap that demonstrate how Native Americans and Colonists likely made maple sugar. We'll learn about tree identification, climate change impacts, qualities of sap and syrup and more in our outdoor, mini 'maple museum' and at a tapped tree," according NCOF. Maple sap runs best when nighttime temperatures drop into the 20s, and daytime temperatures are sunny and in the 40s. Under the right conditions, any mature maple tree can be tapped for sap, according to the University of New Hampshire. The NCOF maple tours begin on Feb. 13 and run through early March.
