MELROSE, MA — There have been more than 1,500 cases of COVID-19 among Melrose residents since the first one here some 10 months ago. The state's weekly coronavirus update released Thursday reports 1,506 cases in Melrose, with 174 coming the past two weeks. Other numbers are improving, but only from an all-time high and are still far worse than the summer lows. The city's average daily incidence rate per 100,000 has dropped from 51 to 42.9. The positive test rate saw a light increase after weeks of falling, ticking up to 3.58 percent. Melrose remains in the yellow category. Mike Carraggi can be reached at [email protected].
