CAMBRIDGE, MA — The man wanted in connection with an armed bank robbery in Harvard Square in November —the first bank robbery in Cambridge since 2018— was arrested Friday, according to police. Police arrested Juan Cruz, 48, of Boston and charged him with armed robbery, following a two-month investigation. Police said Cruz went into the TD bank in Harvard Square on Nov. 23 and robbed it. Right after that, in a period of three weeks there were three others, police said. In each of the four robberies, a suspect passed a note to the bank teller. Before the Nov. 23 bank robbery, the last bank robbery reported in Cambridge occurred in August 2018, according to police. Police told the Crimson in December that they believed the person responsible for the Harvard Square bank robbery was the same one to pass a note to an employee of Cambridge Savings in Inman Square on Cambridge Street two days later. The robber demanded money and threatened to shoot a weapon, they then ran off with the money. A police spokesperson also told the Crimson in December law enforcement believe the robber might also be responsible for bank robberies in Brookline and Boston.
