TAMPA BAY, FL — There are plenty of activities taking place during Super Bowl week. Here's a few of the events scheduled: Super Bowl Light Show The José Gasparilla pirate ship will be the home to a pyrotechnic and laser light show ahead of Super Bowl LV. NFL officials say the Gasparilla ship will feature 150 custom flags representing all 32 NFL teams with the Buccaneers-Chiefs matchup flags prominently displayed alongside 22 Super Bowl flags. The event previewed Saturday night, but people can still catch the 4 1/2-minute laser light show Friday, Feb. 5 and Saturday, Feb 6 at 8:55 p.m. and 9:55 p.m. The ship will be located on the water-facing side of the Tampa Convention Center near the Pirate Water Taxi stand and will be about 400 feet from the shoreline. "The location will provide 360-degree viewing of show with the back of the ship facing Tampa General Hospital, providing a safe distance viewing environment for fans along the waterfront due to large viewing angles," according to a release from NFL officials. The José Gasparilla will remain illuminated nightly for fans to enjoy. Super Bowl Opening Night Super Bowl Opening Night powered by BOLT24 is the national kick-off for Super Bowl LV festivities, held virtually this year on Monday, Feb. 1. Be a part of the action as the Super Bowl players and coaches address the nation for the first time live. Super Bowl Opening Night is the first place that Super Bowl players and coaches from both teams will interact with media before the Super Bowl. Check back for more details here. Get a digital copy of the Super Bowl LV game program Super Bowl Block Party Ducky's Sports Lounge, 1719 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, will host a three-day block party leading up to Super Bowl Sunday with a 26-foot screen to watch the Big Game. There will also be two 30-foot tents with two 10-foot screens in each, a full liquor bar and food service outside, four bars and four beer stations plus a tap trailer and a VIP area inside Ducky's. There will be celebrity appearances and the Bud Light Promo Team will be on site at least two times each day giving out swag and buying rounds of beer. The block party begins Friday, Feb. 5 from 6 to 11 p.m. with music, trivia and prizes.Saturday from noon to 11 p.m., there will be bands, DJs and raffles. And Sunday from noon to 11 p.m., there will be the Big Game along with bands, DJs, raffles and more. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Mike Alstott Family Foundation and the Children's Cancer Center. Social distancing and masks will be enforced. Celebrate Super Bowl 2021 with Tampa Bay Bucs alumni including Kourtnei Brown. Medusa Lounge at 7522 N. Armenia Ave., Tampa, will have a watch party plus after-party featuring local and ATL rappers and DJs from 6:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. There will be indoor and outdoor seating with general admission and VIP tickets available from $50 to $2,000.
