2 Puppies Clinging To Life Rescued By Suncoast Animal League

PALM HARBOR, FL — Late Thursday afternoon, the Suncoast Animal League in Palm Harbor received a call and a troubling video from Pasco County Animal Services showing two tiny puppies, estimated to be 3 weeks old, that were surrendered to animal services. The puppies were anemic, skin and bones, malnourished, dehydrated, and they had a touch of hypothermia. One, a little white male, was barely clinging to life. The medical staff at Pasco County Animal Services tube fed the puppies with success while Suncoast Animal League hastily contacted one of transport volunteers to bring them to the nonprofit animal rescue organization. When they arrived after 5 p.m., the little white puppy was fostered named Ghost was fostered by a volunteer while Suncoast Animal League Director Rick Chaboudy took the other. Ghost could barely stand or sit without falling over. His foster mother checked on him throughout the night, making sure he was warm and syringe fed. Ghost survived the night and was rushed to Paws and Claws Animal Medical Center first thing Friday morning.
