NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A Nassau County police officer rescued three people from an eight-alarm blaze in New Hyde Park Sunday. Police said that heavy smoke was seen "emanating from all windows of the home" as Third Precinct Police Officer Pescatore arrived, and a "male" and "two female residents" were brought to safety outside. No further information was available from police. The Nassau County Police Department does not release the first names of officers due to its privacy policy. No injuries were reported in the fire, which was brought under control by the New Hyde Park Fire department, as well as seven other agencies, police said. Other fire departments that assisted with the fire included, Manhasset/Lakeville, Floral Park, South Floral Park, Mineola, Garden City, Franklin Square, and Elmont Fire Department, police said.
