Catonsville Student's Art Featured At Reginald F. Lewis Museum

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Artwork created by five Baltimore County Public Schools students is being featured in the 2021 High School Virtual Juried Art Show at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African American History and Culture. Starlette Franklin, an 11th grader at Towson High School, earned third place honors in the exhibition and her work was featured on the invitation announcement. Other BCPS students with work featured in the exhibit are:Emmanuel Durojaiye, Grade 12, Lansdowne High SchoolMary Rose Khamfong, Grade 12, Perry Hall High SchoolPayton Screiber-Pan, Grade 11, Dulaney High SchoolBethlehem Wolde, Grade 12, Catonsville High SchoolThe exhibit, produced in conjunction with the Maryland State Education Association, showcases work by students from Baltimore City and Baltimore, Carroll, Montgomery and Prince George's counties. The theme for this year's student exhibition relates to a larger "Make Good Trouble: Marching for Change " exhibition at the Lewis Museum, which documents local social justice protests through photos, murals and protest signs. Students were encouraged to create artwork expressing their voices and thoughts on social justice, activism and systemic racism in America. Works in the student exhibit include drawings, paintings, collage, photography and mixed media.
