CROWNSVILLE, MD — Police said a Thursday morning crash injured a deputy from Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office. An incident report explained that the deputy was traveling southbound on Interstate 97 around 6:30 a.m. when a vehicle backed out of the shoulder and into the travel lanes. The officer and the civilian then collided near the Waterbury Road overpass in Crownsville, the write-up clarified. The report noted that the deputy, who has been with the department for three years, was driving a marked sheriff's cruiser. Police said the civilian is at-fault for the wreck. The press release informed that medics took both drivers to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore as a precaution. Officers added that they don't yet know if alcohol played a role in the accident. The Anne Arundel County Police Department is investigating. Like what you're reading?
