We will be utilizing the butterfly guard from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Working on sweeps, reversals and submitting an attacking opponent! The Butterfly Guard is one of the most effective guards in martial arts. It is a great equalizer for smaller opponents against bigger opponents. The Butterfly Guard allows you to get on the inside of your opponent and use leverage for control and sweeps. It also allows you to control the distance against your opponent. Being able to control the distance and set up barriers between yourself and your opponent is a crucial 1st step in generating a sweep or a submission.
