Description

By Editor, Times of San Diego January 30, 2021 SeaWorld San Diego plans to reopen Feb. 6 after almost two months of closure due to the winter surge in COVID-19 cases. Following the regional stay-at-home order issued by the state of California, SeaWorld temporarily closed Dec. 7. The decision follows Gov. Gavin Newsom's lifting of the order for dining, personal services and other activities this week. SeaWorld officials noted on their website that they would operate in compliance with state safety guidelines for zoos when they re-open. Enhanced health and safety protocols include cleaning and sanitizing, physical distancing, face-covering requirements, and temperature screenings. Capacity, they noted, also "will remain significantly limited." The website also noted that 2020 tickets that expired during the time the park was closed, will automatically be extended through Dec. 31, 2021. Internationally purchased tickets will be extended through the first week of 2022. Park officials said their veterinarians and animal care experts continued to provide care for the animals at SeaWorld San Diego, despite the closure, while also maintaining rescue and rehabilitation operations.
