Description
PELHAM, NH — Pelham firefighters responded to Thomas Avenue on Friday for a reported structure fire.
When the first crews arrived around 9:30 a.m., they found heavy fire coming from the single-family residence — and immediately began searching for occupants.
Multiple towns from New Hampshire and Massachusetts were called for mutual aid assistance.
Firefighters stretched hose lines to battle the fire and were faced with extremely cold temperatures. The freezing water from hose lines coated the ground creating slippery and dangerous conditions.
Firefighters verified there were no residents in the home when the fire broke out. One of the residents arrived about 30 minutes after the fire started to find his house heavily damaged.
The fire was brought under control in just over an hour.
