Description
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence police officer who was accused of assault in April 2020 is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 10, reported WJAR.
Sgt. Joseph Hanley was accused of punching, kicking, and kneeling on the head of a handcuffed man during an arrest.
Hanley was initially suspended without pay by the Providence Police Department until an investigation could be completed and was charged with assault in May.
The Providence External Review Authority released a report that found Hanley guilty of violating department polices in September and a police-worn body camera video of the incident was made public in November.
