CRANSTON, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Health reported on Friday that the state's daily positivity rate is currently 2.9%, the lowest rate since late October.
According to the latest data from RIDOH, there were 550 new COVID-19 cases and over 19,000 tests administered on Thursday. The state also reported 10 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 2,154.
Hospitalizations have continued to decrease statewide, with 324 people hospitalized as of Friday. Out of the total number of hospitalized patients, 50 are currently in the ICU and 31 are on ventilators.
The state will begin vaccinating eligible members of the population this weekend, starting with residents age 75 and older with underlying health conditions and moving to all residents age 75 and older in mid-February.
