ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving fraud, a priest impersonation, an irate person, a fugitive, retail theft and a DUI, among others. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Businesses targeted A woman placed several food orders at Stray Hen Cafe, 105 S. York St., and then subsequently disputed the charges or invalidated the credit card between Oct. 25 and Dec. 6. The food orders were placed online and picked up by a man. An investigation is pending. The report was made Wednesday.DiLeo's Pizzeria, 193 E. Butterfield Road, told police Wednesday that it identified several unauthorized withdrawals from its bank account. An investigation is pending. Priest impersonation A resident in the 200 block of West Van Buren Street told police Monday that she received a text message from a person purporting to be a priest from her parish. The person requested that she buy gift cards. The victim did not buy cards and did not have further contact with the suspect. The call happened about 6:30 p.m. Jan. 19. Irate person A man at Ed Napleton Acura, 727 W. Lake St., told police that a suspect threatened him, yelled profanities and approached him in a manner where he feared he would be battered. It happened about 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The incident was reported to police three days later. Fugitive An officer tried to stop a driver for speeding about 8 p.m. Monday near North Avenue and Interstate 290. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on the expressway. Retail theft Two men entered Shoe Carnival, 195 S. Route 83, and left the store without paying for two pairs of shoes at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The suspects were described as black men, 6 feet and having a thin build. The first one was wearing a puffy black jacket, a camouflage mask, a black do-rag and an earring in the left ear. The second one was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a flat brimmed hat, blue pants with a white strip and a red mask. Credit cards stolen A resident in the 100 block of North Larch Avenue told police that after returning home from shopping at Jewel-Osco, he was notified by his credit card companies about fraudulent activity on his credit cards. He was unable to find his wallet. Various store video surveillance showed the two suspects using the victim's credit cards to buy merchandise. The incident was reported Tuesday. The first suspect was described as a white woman, 35 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches, 200 pounds, having black hair with red highlights, and wearing gray leggings and a black jacket with white and red stripes. The second was described as a black man, 45 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches, 250 pounds, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants. DUI Jennifer L. Logan, 36, of Chicago, was arrested shortly after midnight Wednesday in the 400 block of North York on charges of DUI, endangering the life of a child (two counts) and transportation of open alcohol. According to a police report, she was asleep behind the wheel with two children inside the car. An open bottle of vodka and a cup of alcohol were found in the car. She was released on bond. The children were released to a family member. Resisting officer Kelvin R. Brown, 41, of Bellwood, was cited about 3 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of East Butterfield on charges of resisting a police officer and driving with a revoked license. He was released on bond. Warrants Cynthya V. Orbe Jimenez, 33, of Chicago, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. on a DuPage County Sheriff's Office warrant. She turned herself in to the Elmhurst police station. She was released on bond. Christoper Balbuena, 20, of Bensenville, was arrested about 1 a.m. Thursday in the 100 block of West Church on a DuPage County Sheriff's Office warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Driving violations Molly R. Greer, 21, of Elmhurst, was cited about 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of West Lake Street on charges of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
