Warrington Mulch Fire Closes 2 Central Bucks Schools

WARRINGTON, PA — Two Central Bucks elementary schools went all virtual Friday due to a mulch fire in Warrington Township. The Central Bucks School District contacted families whose children attend Barclay and Titus elementary schools to notify them that both schools will operate in asynchronous mode on Friday. Superintendent John Kopicki made the decision to close the buildings prior to the start of the school day in the interest of the health and safety of the schools' students and employees, district spokesperson Angela Linch said. Employees in the buildings were dismissed to prepare online assignments from remote locations. Heavy smoke caused reduced visibility on Route 611, Folly Road, Bristol Road and Pickerton Road, according to the Transportation Management Association of Bucks County. Firefighters have been extinguishing a large mulch pile at Winding Brook Farm off Folly Road since 3 a.m. Friday, according to Warrington Township Emergency Services.
