Description
BAY VILLAGE, OH - Bay Village High School was briefly on lockdown on Friday after a possible hoax phone call.
At 12:57 p.m. a male called Bay Village police and said someone was in the Bay Village High School bathroom, with guns and knives, and was planning on doing harm to students. Police contacted school administrators and the high school was put on lockdown, said Bay Village Police Chief Kathy Leasure.
Mutual aid was requested from surrounding cities and officers from multiple police departments converged on Bay Village High.
Officers conducted a systematic search of the high school and found no weapons. The threat has been deemed "not credible," Leasure said. Investigators are now trying to determine who made the phone call about the high school threat.
If the call is deemed to be a hoax, Leasure said the caller could face charges for inducing panic.
Leasure also said there were a number of Internet rumors about Friday's incident, but no students were harmed or threatened and no weapons were found during the search of the high school.
