SCOTTSDALE, AZ — With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to hit Arizona, the city of Scottsdale is stepping up to help out. The Scottsdale City Council has set aside $450,000 of its federal CARES Act dollars to fund a utility assistance program. Any Scottsdale resident with past-due balances for water, wastewater and solid waste services might qualify, according to a news release. The city has deferred water shut-offs since last March due to the immense financial hardship caused by the pandemic, but that will be ending come February. The city has begun notifying anyone with accounts past 31 days due that their water will be shut off without payment at the beginning of the next month. Every overdue account will need to contact the city if they need financial help.
