Police then said Matthews stopped at the corner of 15th Street and Greensboro Avenue and told the officers his name before pulling away. Driving along the railroad tracks by Queen City Avenue in a 2015 Nissan Murano before getting on to Interstate 359 and heading south, Matthews reportedly struck a road sign at the intersection of Rosser Estates and Wuthering Heights Lane. TPD says he began to slow down around the area of Garner Road and threw a shotgun from the driver's side window, eventually coming to a stop and being taken into custody a little more than 20 minutes after the pursuit began. Officers searched Matthews' vehicle and found magazines and shotgun shells. Investigators also said Matthews had outstanding felony warrants with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office for possession of a controlled substance and first-degree possession of marijuana. Records show Matthews remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail as of Saturday with bond set at $6,000 on the attempting to elude charge. Follow Patch here for updates or on Facebook and Twitter.
