LAND O' LAKES, FL —Pasco County Schools is partnering with the Pasco County Department of Health and the Pasco Department of Emergency Management to provide coronavirus vaccine to school district employees who are 65 years or older. The first of the two vaccine doses are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 7. A second dose has been scheduled for Sunday, March 7. The vaccinations, which are by appointment only, will take place at two locations – one in New Port Richey and one in Land O'Lakes. Due to a limited supply of vaccine, the state has made it a priority to vaccinate Floridians age 65 and older. Additionally, the Pasco Department of Health has made the vaccine available to the school district's medical first responders. The vaccinations will be administered by teams of nurses from both the Department of Health and the school district. The logistics of getting hundreds of vaccinations done at two locations in one day involve teams that include the Pasco County Schools, the Department of Health, Pasco Department of Emergency Management and the National Guard. "This is a tremendous first step in addressing the health concerns of hundreds of our employees," said Kurt Browning, superintendent of Pasco County Schools. "This is just the start. Ultimately, we hope to offer the vaccine to all our employees who want to be vaccinated. "I can't say enough about our partnership with our Department of Health," Browning said. "They have really stepped up. First, in providing COVID-19 testing for many of our employees, and now in offering the vaccine to those 65 and older."
