NORWALK, CT — The Connecticut Food Bank stopped distributing expired turkey meat through its food pantry in Norwalk on Wednesday after complaints over safety, writes The Hour. The food bank reportedly stopped serving the meat at its Calf Pasture Beach distribution pantry because some residents complained after receiving frozen meat that had "use by" dates from December. Former Norwalk city employee Judy Morales, a mutual aid volunteer, called attention to the meat situation after other residents reached out to her, according to the publication. Food bank officials said because the meat is frozen before any expiration dates, it is safe to eat, but city officials are considering handing out fliers with information about that distinction.
