MILFORD, CT — It's going to cost a little more to play a round of golf in Milford this year. The Board of Aldermen voted earlier this month to approve a new management agreement for The Orchards Golf Course, which includes a fee increase. During the aldermen meeting, Alderman Ray Vitali expressed opposition to raising the fees and asked for them to remain flat due to the ongoing effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Golf Commissioner Bill Healey told the aldermen that the fees had been held flat for the past two years already. Republican aldermen, Anthony Giannattasio and Win Smith, made a motion to keep the fees the same, but that vote failed 11-3, according to meeting minutes. All fees will increase by $1, which was part of the new management agreement, city officials said. Some new improvements include: the course will now accept credit and debit cards where prior it was only cash, and there will be a golf simulator that can be used off-season which will generate more revenue for the city.
