CATONSVILLE, MD — A library media specialist at Catonsville High School has been honored with the Minority Recognition Award for Community by the Maryland State Education Association Board of Directors and Minority Affairs Committee. The award was presented formally to Angenine Goode during MSEA's annual virtual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Jan. 16. Goode was nominated for the honor by Capathia Campbell, a library media specialist at Hebbville Elementary School, and Kelli Hickey, a classroom teacher at Stoneleigh Elementary School. "Angenine Goode is unfailingly supportive of her school community," Campbell said in a statement. "She provides a safe space for all her students and is extremely supportive to coworkers and administrators." An educator for more than 30 years, Goode taught at the elementary school level before becoming a library media specialist. She has served as library media specialist at Catonsville High since 2007. She also contributes to the school as an instructional technology coach, Discovery Education Network (DEN) STAR ambassador and badminton coach. Goode also co-sponsors two afterschool clubs, the Diversity Club and the Black Student Union. Goode earned a master's degree in library media and instructional technology from Towson University.
