BOSTON — Drew O'Connor, welcome to the NHL. The Chatham native made the most of his league debut Tuesday, logging an assist that helped force overtime for the Penguins. Taxi squads are comprised of players who practice and travel with NHL teams, but they can only play if their squad recalls them on short notice. O'Connor signed with the Penguins March 10 as an undrafted free agent out of Dartmouth. The Bruins defeated the Penguins, 3-2, Tuesday in overtime, but O'Connor made an impact. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound forward assisted on a Jason Zucker goal in the third period. O'Connor's assist helped the Penguins force overtime, extending their point streak to five games because of the overtime loss. O'Connor played 10 minutes, 51 seconds in the match. Before the NHL season, the 22-year-old played in Norway for Manglerud. He recorded six goals, four assists and 10 points overseas.
