LA GRANGE, IL — A clinic for coronavirus vaccinations is set to open temporarily in a downtown La Grange building.
This week, the Village Board approved Pillars Community Health's proposal for the clinic at 27 Calendar Ave., in the old Vintage Home Decor store. The organization said it would open the office as soon as the village completes inspections.
The clinic is set to be open four hours a day Monday through Saturday. Asked why it wouldn't be open for longer each day, Angela Curran, the organization's chief executive, said Pillars still needed to devote resources to its coronavirus testing.
She said the vaccinations would be available for thousands of existing patients as well as residents in La Grange and nearby suburbs.
Pillars representatives were also asked how it would handle no-shows for vaccination appointments, which result in extra doses.
Dr. Kisti Catalano, the organization's medical director, said Pillars would keep a reserve list and call in people.
"We don't want to waste any doses," she said.
For information on the vaccination clinic, visit the organization's website or call 708-745-5277.
