Description

Hello! My name is Matt, and I’d love to help you with your drumming. Ive been teaching private drum lessons full time for almost 10 years and I’ve been playing my entire life (I’m 33). I have a BA in music performance from my time at M.I. and Berklee School of Music. I’ve listed a lot of info below, but if you want to see pictures, video, or hear my playing please visit my website: HTTPS://THOMPSONDRUMS.COM Location: I have a studio that’s set up with two drum sets, so all you need to bring are sticks. Im located in the Northridge/North Hills area, near the intersection of Nordhoff and Balboa. I also offer online lessons, via Skype, FaceTime, or Zoom. Ages: I currently teach students of (almost) all ages. Kids should be 7 years old before starting drum lessons, and there’s no upper cut-off. I have a number of students in their 60s/70s. Skill Levels: All are welcome. I have plenty of people just starting out, people that have been playing a while and want to take things to the next level, and people who have taken a long break and want to get back into it. When it comes to new drummers, I can say I’ve been doing this a long time and I know how to get you up and running fairly quickly. For more experienced drummers, my time studying and in music school has left me with a ton of concepts, worksheets, books, and general knowledge that I’d love to share with you. COVID-19: I am offering in person lessons currently, with several precautions in place. Everyone coming into the room needs to be wearing a mask (this includes kids). Any mask is fine, so long as it covers both your mouth and nose. I also wipe down the students drums and common surfaces with disinfectant before and after each lesson. The two drum sets are more than 6 feet apart, so we are able to maintain distance throughout the lesson. That said, the studio itself is only about 250 sq. feet, so it’s a somewhat small room. The AC is running the entire time though, so the ventilation is good. I can tell you that I take this stuff very seriously, and I do not get sloppy with cleaning or the mask wearing. That said, there are still risks associated with any activity and the steps that I take are not to be taken as a guarantee of anyone’s safety. Thats it! If you’re interested, please respond to this ad or you can contact me through the contact page on my website. I hope to speak with you soon!
