Arlington Heights Schools Get $4.5M In COVID-19 Relief Funding

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The two main public school districts in Arlington Heights are set to receive more than $4.5 million in grants from the second coronavirus-relief package approved last month by federal lawmakers. That $900 billion relief package included about $2.25 billion for Illinois public school districts, more than four times the amount they received from the first federal relief package, according to Carmen Ayala, the state's superintendent of education. Township High School District 214, headquartered in Arlington Heights, is set to receive $$3,867,542, while Arlington Heights School District 25 is slated to net $675,390, according to the Illinois State Board of Education. 109-Year-Old Arlington Heights Woman Receives Vaccine Ayala and the state board are encouraging districts to spend on their "most urgent needs," like supplemental learning opportunities, mental health support and closing the digital divide.
