Press release from the City of Oklahoma City: January 27, 2021 Employees with the City of Oklahoma City pledged to donate $520,069 through the 2020 Heart of the City charitable giving campaign. The Heart of the City Campaign benefits four federations: Allied Arts, Community Health Charities, Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and United Way of Central Oklahoma. Employee directed their giving to over 100 local nonprofit organizations that make up the four federations. Of the City's 5,356 employees, 2,589 made pledges or donated cash to charitable campaign and 308 employees pledged to give more than $500. "This was a challenging fundraising year with the pandemic, but our employees stepped up and gave generously to help fill unmet needs in our growing community," said Assistant City Manager and executive sponsor Laura Johnson. "Our employees care deeply about giving back to the community where they live and work." Employees raised the money through pledges and cash contribution as well as silent auctions, bake sales, raffles, rallies and other fundraisers that were held last fall. "We are fortunate to live in a community that has engaged and caring City employees," said United Way executive director Debby Hampton.
