From the City of Brookhaven: January 26, 2021 The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Jan. 26 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Zoom. The action items are as follows: The Council held a public hearing on an ordinance to amend sections 27-67, 27-68, and 27-1336, of the Brookhaven City code, related to average front yard setbacks. The ordinance was subsequently deferred until the Feb. 9 City Council meeting. The Mayor and Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included: The minutes of the Jan. 12 virtual Work Session and Regular Meetings. The Mayor and Council unanimously adopted of the Gateway South Character Area Study. The Council unanimously approved an amendment to the 2021 Vehicle Replacement Fund Budget to appropriate $1,800,000 for the purchase of future replacement vehicles. The Council unanimously approved a resolution to acquire property located at 2248 Drew Valley Lane for greenspace and to improve access to the Briarwood Recreation Center and pool facilities. The Council unanimously approved a resolution requesting that the Georgia General Assembly adopt local legislation to Amend HB 575/Act 213 from the 2017 Legislative Session to remove the sunset of the Act, to authorize the execution of any documents relating to such legislation, and otherwise perform all necessary acts to accomplish the intent of the resolution. The Council unanimously approved a resolution to establish the Brookhaven Arts & Culture Commission. The Council unanimously approved a resolution to establish a minimum wage of $15 for all permanent part time workers employed by the City the Brookhaven.
