During this gathering we celebrate what God is doing as well as equip you with resources we have found to be beneficial. I encourage all to make their best effort to be there. We are going to have some very informative content that will help equip both roles in some creative ways. One thing we are going to be doing is getting a short training on Motivational Interviewing. This will be great for our Family Coaches and beneficial for our ML to know. Here is a short summary of what that looks like. Motivational interviewing is a method of communication that helps facilitate behavioral change. The process leads parents from ambivalence to actively making steps to reach their goals by empowering them to pull from their own meaning, importance, and capacity to change. The fundamental processes include: engaging, focusing, evoking and planning. During this training, you will learn how to apply MI into conversations with referring parents to help elicit change and to address any resistance to reaching their goals. We will also be showing you a creative and very practical care package that can be provided for Host Families. This is really going to help you in your ML role but also beneficial for the FC to be aware of the things going in the care package. Lunch will be provided upon arrival. Hope to see you there!
