SHARON, MA — Sharon Public Schools reported on Monday that two students at Sharon High School have tested positive for coronavirus.
According to a letter to families from Superintendent of Schools Meg Dussault, neither student has been attending in-person classes.
"We have learned of two new cases of COVID at the High School," said Dussault in a Twitter post. "Neither student was in school to infect others. No contact tracing was necessary."
Since the first week of January, Sharon Public Schools have reported 17 new COVID-19 cases, including three at East Elementary School, two at Cottage Street Elementary School, three at Heights Elementary School, three at Sharon Middle School, and six at Sharon High School.
The district's second round of COVID-19 pool testing began on Monday, said Dussault.
According to the latest statistics released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Sharon has experienced a total of 603 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 120 reported in the two weeks leading up to Jan. 21. The town has an average daily incidence rate of 46.9 and a 4.65% positivity rate, an increase from last week's average daily incidence rate of 35.6 and 4% positivity rate.
