SARASOTA COUNTY, FL – Several Sarasota County commissioners expressed frustration with the state's handling of the coronavirus vaccine rollout in Florida at their Tuesday meeting, the Herald-Tribune reported. Some said they've been receiving negative feedback from county residents about their vaccination distribution and registration system. Several spoke out against the Florida Department of Health and other state agencies for a lack of communication and for failing to help Sarasota County develop a vaccine distribution plan, reports said. "I am getting completely frustrated, I'm losing my patience and frankly getting annoyed at the lack of communication that's coming from state authorities on this," said Commissioner Mike Moran. Commissioner Christian Ziegler agreed that "the biggest frustration is the lack of communication. He added, "We as a county don't have any oversight over this. Most citizens just assume their county government is going to deliver for them." Like what you're reading? Invite a friend to subscribe to free Sarasota newsletters and real-time email alerts. At that meeting, Chuck Henry, the state DOH health officer in Sarasota County, said Florida will launch a statewide vaccine registration system and will phase it in with counties across the state. The county launched its own vaccine appointment registration system after using the online ticketing system Eventbrite for several weeks.
