Holidays are over and you know what that means? Going back to our usual routine, including doing the laundry. Now if you went on a long vacation for the holidays, you might have more laundry than usual. This is especially true if you traveled with your entire family unless you booked a laundry service while on vacation. After your trip, you might be tempted to put off doing the laundry, but doing so will only overwhelm you with the mounting piles of laundry stacked in front of you. So, here’s our quick guide on how to catch up on your laundry after vacation. The first thing to do is empty your suitcases and duffel bags. Take everything out! Now, you’re not doing the laundry quite yet. Wipe off the exterior of your suitcase. You may also need to leave it open for a few hours to remove the smell of the dirty laundry. Now, hopefully, you don’t have any wet items mixed in with your laundry. If you just came from a beach vacation, it’s best to hang your clothes up to dry before putting them in your luggage. This will avoid damp clothes from being stored inside. Wash your swimwear first. Most swimsuits and swim trunks require delicate washing. You can just hand wash them and hang them to dry. You don’t have to tackle the laundry by yourself. Ask your kids to help you by letting them gather their dirty clothes and putting them in the hamper. Separate the whites from the dark clothes. Load them in the washer by color. Be sure to wash the whites with warm water and the dark ones with cold water. Add a scoop of laundry powder and set the washing machine to a quick wash cycle. After adding your first batch of laundry to the dryer, you can then start up another load of laundry in the washer. Repeat the process -- wash-dry-fold-put away - until completed. Doing the laundry can be a daunting task but if you tackle it right away, you won’t have to dread facing a huge pile of laundry. If you are rushing back to work or have other tasks to do when you get home, there's an easier way to get your laundry done after a vacation!
