Press release from the Town of Easton: January 26, 2021 The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and the MBTA are proposing to restore passenger rail transportation between the South Coast and Boston. MassDOT and MBTA are designing a new rail connection making use of the existing MBTA Stoughton Commuter Rail Line. Design for this route is currently 15% complete. In addition, MassDOT and MBTA are currently considering an alternative rail route between Boston and the South Coast that could potentially be designed and constructed more quickly than can the Stoughton route.
