Description
BEVERLY, MA — Beverly is asking residents to fill out a survey on their use of Obear Park, to help determine the effect of that use, as part of a feasibility study on the park.
The city wants to know whether the effects of resident use on Obear Park's coastline and beach, park equipment or marsh are visible.
The survey can be found here.
The city is also asking for residents' observations and photographs of Obear Park, the Danvers Riverand surrounding areas. Those with photos — both current and historical — of Obear Park during or after storm events, king tides and other weather phenomena are asked to submit them so officials can see what has changed over time and what needs to be protected.
Photos and other information can be sent here.
The city plans to use a $58,340 grant through the Office of Coastal Zone Management's Coastal Resilience Grant program for a feasibility study and conceptual design to determine appropriate methods to install natural protections and make improvements to stop the degradation of the park.
Beverly contracted with engineering consultant CDM Smith for the first phase of the project involving data collection and environmental assessments, includ9ng shoreline erosion and sea-level rise assessments.
Pictures submitted should include the date and specific location, and can also be submitted through the MyCoast mobile app.
